Product Reviews

Fenwick Pflueger NightHawk Fly Kit is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent quality great value My Son purchased this kit for me as a Father's Day gift. The Fenwick rod quality is very good, components, build and finish are above average. The Monarch reel is a classic that functions as a clicker with the drag backed off or as a reel with a reasonable drag, line drag control is OK. Fly line is a quality weight forward floating line with a 9 foot 5X leader. If you break a tip or the blank using this rod its not the equipment that's at fault. A 5 weight fly rod does not stand up to idiotic misuse. This is a quality kit, excellent for anyone who wants a slightly slower action. I LOVE IT>

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for the buck. I bought the 8 wt Nighthawk combo 3 months ago after a recommendation from my local shop. I couldn't be happier. After multiple fishing outings and almost a hundred fish later, the rod and reel are working flawlessly. Performs equally well with panfish, bass and salmon. For the price, I was originally skeptical that the reel would hold up to the demands of a 20+ lb salmon....boy was I wrong (see pic). Btw....a good rod case is a must and the one that comes with this combo does not disappoint. As far as rod performance goes, ease of casting is far superior to the Orvis outfit I used in a fly fishing tour in the Green Mountains. The supplied floating fly line is very smooth and aids in the casting ability of this outfit. The only negative point I have to mention is the nail knot connecting the fly line to the leader. After having this knot repeatedly catch and tangle my leader into a mess during casts, I ended up using shrink tube to "weld" a loop on the end of the fly line, eliminating the protruding ends of a nail knot.....problem solved. If this outfit continues to impress, I will be a Fenwick guy for life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought this combo in May 2016 and used it no more than 9 times and the epoxy gave out on some of the guides and the top part of the handle came loose. 5 trips later a chunk of the handle just tore off while reeling in a trout. The reel locked up on me a couple of times and the drag got a lot weaker believe it or not, I am not one bit satisfied with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No durability The rod tip snapped in half on literally my second trip. No more than 25 casts on it. I won't be buying fromFenwick again

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great casting, good reel, bad rod construction I got this rod for my birthday in September, caught several fish on It and was very satisfied until I wasn't. Hooked into a steelhead and rod tip snapped on hook set, dont recommended for bigger fish but overall I liked the rod for bigger trout waiting for warranty team to contact me for replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I bought this rod and was happy with the look of it, but the first time i take it fishing and started to reel in a trout the rod tip broke. I have never broken a rod before so i was very disapointed with the quality of the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. I bought this rod back in February. It's my first fly rod. It's easy to cast, lightweight, and has quite a few trout, crappie, perch, and one monster bass. Love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought this a week or two ago despite the pour reviews. After four times using the rod, the rod tip snapped off..
