Stories From the Field: World Record Catch!
—
— Fishing pro and television personality Ronnie Kovach recently landed a 97.9 pound Pacific Alamco Jack. This huge Jack is a pending line class world record.
Ronnie caught his pending world record in the Pacific Ocean off Cabo while field testing several new 2007 Berkley, Abu Garcia and Fenwick products. The Jack hit a Berkley PowerBait Swimming Mullet on 20 pound Berkley Big Game Hi Test line. Ronnie was also fishing with the soon to be released Abu Garcia 7000IHN Ambassadeur Big Game reel on a new Fenwick Inshore rod.
“Man, I’m glad we got this fish to the boat,” Kovach said, “That Jack made long and deep runs really putting a lot of pressure on both me and my equipment. This new stuff I’m testing is just awesome!
Ronnie’s Pacific Alamco Jack was weighed in on an IGFA certified scale. Now, to be certified as a line class world record, Kovach’s 20 pound Berkley Big Game Hi Test line will be strength tested at the IGFA lab.
