FENWICK PRO KEVIN WIRTH ENDS 14-YEAR DROUGHT
—
Fenwick pro Kevin Wirth won his second tour-level event, which was held on Old Hickory Lake this past weekend. Wirth won the event with a total weight of 55 pounds, 10 ounces. The former Kentucky Derby jockey cashed a $100,000 check for his victory. The baitcasting rod of choice for Wirth was a Fenwick Techna AV the Tennessee Triumph BASS Elite Series event.
“Old Hickory proved to be a tough impoundment to fish,” Wirth said. “When you fish for 14 years and never stand in the winner’s circle you, begin to wonder if you can do it. This feeling was worth the long wait.”
In addition to Fenwick rods, Wirth also used Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon as well as the Abu Garcia STX reel. Berkley 5-inch Power Hawg, green pumpkin, was Wirth’s bait of choice.
The next Elite Series event is set for July 31- August 3 on Lake Erie in Buffalo, N.Y.
