FENWICK PRO ASHLEY NETS VICTORY AT BASS ELITE SERIES - SMITH MOUNTAIN
 |
—
Fenwick Pro Casey Ashley edged out the competition for his first BASS Elite Series win on Virginia¹s Smith Mountain Lake. Using Fenwick¹s Techna AV premium fishing rods during the four-day event, Ashley netted a combined weight of 57 pounds, 3 ounces.
Ashley, 23, is the youngest angler on the Elite Series and his win created a two-way tie for 2007 Rookie of the Year campaign between him and Derek Remitz. The victory will give Ashley momentum heading into the next event on Oklahoma¹s Grand Lake, June 21-24.
Ashley utilized his knowledge of finesse fishing and rocky point jigging to edge second place finisher Terry Scroggins by a mere 2-pounds.
Fenwick Pros John Crews and Matthew Spahr also finished among the top ten.
Crews, with 50 pounds and 11 ounces, placed at number eight. Spahr totaled
48 pounds, 12 ounces giving him the number ten spot.
The Fenwick Techna AV that Ashley used is the 6 foot, 6 inch MHF and MF models. This ultra-thin rod uses an IM8 graphite rod blank that is wrapped with Aramid Veil shield. Techna AV rods include Fuji Alconite ring concept guides and Fuji reel seats with graphite nylon bodies. The Fuji Alconite rings make this rod 35% lighter and up to 50% stronger than other rods in the market.
